DIP stands for Digitaal Informatieplatform Podiumkunsten — the Digital Information Platform for the Performing Arts — and is a non-profit collaborative initiative for the Dutch performing arts sector. The platform connects theatres, producers, impresarios and festivals, bringing together ticket sales, audience data and contract management in one central place. Governance and further development take place in close collaboration with industry associations including NAPK and VSCD.
What sets DIP apart is its sector-wide perspective. By combining data from affiliated organisations, the platform generates insight into audience flows, visitor behaviour and programming patterns across the entire sector. This makes it possible to identify successful productions, track audience development and make well-informed decisions about programming and marketing. In addition to audience analytics, DIP also handles settlement reporting for standardised financial reconciliation between theatres and producers.
Ovatic is one of the ticketing systems connected to DIP. Ticket sales and audience data captured in Ovatic are automatically submitted to the DIP platform. Organisations working with Ovatic therefore meet their reporting obligations to DIP without any additional manual effort, while contributing to the sector-wide data that makes the platform so valuable.
